Dallas Debutante!

This weekend I went to a workshop put on by one of the best wedding photographers around: Kevin Jairaj of KJ Images. Here are some of the workshop photos as well as some pics of some great new friends. Total props for our model Katie who was strutin' around in a gorgeous wedding dress in 35 degree weather.

Here is the pull-back of that shot of Katie that I took. I was shooting with my trusted 50mm ƒ1.8. I love this little lens! I would love to be able to shoot an entire wedding with it. The pull-back shot was taken by Huy a truly gifted photographer.

Some great new friends: Srinu and Amy Regeti, Mike Hanline (WHCC), your truly, Michael Escalera, photo taken by Regeti

February News...

January is supposed to be "slow" for us wedding photographers. I don't normally shoot a lot of wedding during the winter months, so I try to use the so called "down-time" to catch up on paperwork, marketing materials, sleep. But nooooooo! This is been a super busy time!

1st up, I just launched my redesigned website at johnlyonsweddings.ca

As part of the redesign I also added the .com suffix. So, now either johnlyonsweddings.ca OR johnlyonsweddings.com will work. Have a look, please drop me a quick e-mail and tell me what you think. I purposely haven't added a lot of photos to the galleries because I want to leave room for all the great photos coming in 2006. Starting in April, when the wedding season kicks off (for me at least) I will start to post a lot more wedding photos. I have quite a few e-sessions (engagement sessions) coming up, so I will post those soon as well.

Happily, I am pretty much booked solid for 2006, with only a couple of openings left. If you haven't booked your 2006 wedding please send me an e-mail right away. I am currently booking 2007 dates and believe it or not 2008!

Speaking of e-mail, if you have sent me an e-mail in the last couple of weeks and I haven't responded, PLEASE send it to me again. We did experience an e-mail blackout a few weeks ago at our isp.

At the Chatham Bridal Show last week, I was very happy to introduce my all new digital coffee table style albums. I don't do a lot of traditional matted albums anymore, most of my albums now are all digital and funky as all get out! To see the layouts in my sample layout, click here.

Here are some photos of the album at the wedding show:

If you have booked for 2006 already, and would like to add this album to your package, just send me a quick e-mail, I have a special promotion for current B2B's (Brides to Be). If you haven't booked - What are you waiting for! Book soon and you too can take advantage of this introductory offer!

And finally, I know I just said that most of my albums are digital now, well I put together a package this weekend for a B2B who wanted a traditional matted album. Sometimes I forget that not everyone has the same taste as I do. In the future, I will post a package that includes a super cool traditional album; in the meantime, if you do want a traditional album, please don't hesitate to mention it.

That's all for now! I'm off to Dallas, Texas next weekend, I can't wait to post the photos!

Cheers!
